About the Artists

Studio Sarai began in 2020 when Berlin-born artist Sarai turned her love for timber and design into a creative business. Soon after, her husband Paul joined her in the studio, and together they’ve built a life around crafting geometric wood mosaics from their Fremantle studio on the Australian West Coast.

Each artwork is a reflection of their shared connection to nature and love for thoughtful craftsmanship. Often inspired by the rugged beauty of Australian landscapes, their designs echo the rhythm of the coast, the stillness of the bush, and the earthy textures of the outback. The colours they use are drawn from the land itself: ocean blues, forest greens, warm sands, and the vibrant tones of native flora.

Every piece is built from a mix of new and recycled timber, giving new life to materials that carry their own unique history. No two artworks are ever the same. The natural grain, texture, and character of the wood guide the creative process, allowing each mosaic to evolve organically as it’s made.

Sarai and Paul’s style is known for its balance of precision and soul, clean lines and geometric forms with a warmth that invites interpretation. Some see landscapes, others see faces, arches, or shifting light. That openness is part of the magic.

Since the beginning of their creative journey, Sarai and Paul have handcrafted hundreds of original wood mosaics, each one a true one-off.
